Dinner Grill - Whole fish on the coals

We will prepare fish grilled dinner, just on the fire, but also can be applied on the grill. Before grilling the fish we cover the skin with coarse salt for 45 minutes. Salt dry up skin which would prevent him sticking to the grid grill and turn it at the end of the grilling crispy.

Ingredients for Whole fish

  • A big sea fish in weight from 2 to 5 kg or smaller fish (can be removed any other fish who like)
  • Pounds of coarse salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Two flat stones and stability – height from the ground should not exceed about 15 cm

To diversify options to bring the fish’s stomach:

  • Peeled garlic cloves
  • Lemon slices
  • Herbs love


2 Grids of an old toaster / oven / Grilling Throw

How to prepare our fish dinner:

  1. Place the fish in the sea on board, foil or a large pan and sprinkle with coarse salt (should completely cover both sides). Place the fish is covered in salt on 45 minutes. Remove hand the coarse salt.
  2. Brush the fish with olive oil, season with pepper (no need in salt) if you want you can put the fish belly slices of garlic, lemon and herbs.
  3. Prepare the grilling area mesh of fish – Place the two stones within the extent of the fish over mesh, and make sure the grid grill is stable on the stones.
  4. Close the fish between two grids and connect them roasting the four corners of grill with 4 silver foil paper lengths of 30 cm rolled up into a kind of long ropes (Watchman in the image).
  5. Sprinkle with a generous amount of hot coals between two stones and place above the grid with the fish on the rocks. Turning up the grid grill every 5 minutes with a towel.( Careful it’s very hot!) Fish weighing up to pounds would be enough for 20 minutes. Fish over 5 pounds will have to spend 45 minutes over the coals.
  6. Our tasty and healthy dinner is ready! Serve the center of the table.
