Easy Pot Roast

To cook rich and tasting dish for easy dinner, it is not necessary to use expensive products. For fighting fit just cheap parts of the carcass: they contain collagen and fat, which slow braising makes the meat soft, tender and flavorful.

Easy Pot Roast: Roast with potatoes and garlic.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 2 hours
Servings: 6 servings


  • 1.2 kg beef rump
  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • 1 kg white onions
  • 2 heads of garlic
  • 1 small bunch of green onions
  • 150 ml white wine
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • Ghee
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, freshly ground black pepper

Step-by-step recipe:

Step 1
Cut the meat across the grain into 6 equal pieces. In a large cast-iron Dutch oven or deep saucepan with a thick bottom heat 2 tbsp of olive oil, fry the meat on high heat for 7-9 minutes on each side until Golden brown. Fried meat put on a plate.
Step 2
Peel the garlic cloves, slightly crushing each clove. Add to the roasting pan a little melted butter, 1 tbsp olive oil, saute the garlic over medium heat, 1-2 min. As soon As the garlic will give its full flavor, remove garlic with a slotted spoon and put to the meat.
Step 3
Peel the onion, cut it into thin half-rings. Add to the roasting pan 1 tbsp olive oil, fry the onion over high heat, stirring all the time, until Golden brown, about 7 min.
Step 4
Return to the roasting pan and the garlic and the meat, pour 150 ml white wine 250 ml beef broth to the meat was covered in it. Bring to a boil and cook under cover for 1 h.
Step 5
Peel the potatoes and cut it into large slices. Put the potatoes in a roasting pan for meat, salt, pepper. If necessary, add water, but not too much – if the brazier sealed lid, the potatoes can be prepared a couple from the meat. Close the lid, cook roast 40-50 min.
Step 6
Thinly slice green onions and sprinkle them with hot, turn off the heat, stir and serve.
