Heartland Beef Stout Stew

Recipe: Heartland Beef Stout Stew

Serves 6

  • 3 # Stew Meat
  • 1 Head of Garlic
  • 1 # Spanish or Yellow Onion
  • 1 # Yukon Potatoes
  • 1/2 # Celery
  • 1/2 # Carrots
  • 1/2 # Canola Oil
  • 1 Can of Stout Beer
  • 3 qts of Water or Beef Stock
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 oz of Fresh Parsley to garnish

How cooking “Heartland Beef Stout Stew”

  1. Chop onions, potatoes, celery, and carrots into pieces about 1/2″ thick.
  2. Peel and finely chop garlic.
  3. Salt and pepper beef stew meat.
  4. Put heavy bottom stockpot (at least 4 qts) on burner and turn heat to high.
  5. Coat Pot with canola oil and brown meat on all sides.
  6. Remove meat from stockpot when all pieces are browned and set aside.
  7. Add onions and garlic to pot and turn heat down to medium low being careful not to burn the garlic and onions.
  8. Stirring occasionally add carrots, potatoes and celery.
  9. Let cook for 10 minutes.
  10. Add stout beer and simmer until reduced by half.
  11. Beer will foam a little.
  12. Add browned meat and 3 qts of beef stock or water.
  13. Let cook for 2 hrs on medium low.
  14. You may use any style of beer you prefer or even red wine.
  15. Stout brings out the richness in the meat and complements this hearty stew.
  16. Goes great with Italian Style bread.
