Banana Cream Pie Martini Cocktail

Banana Cream Pie Martini Cocktail

Recipe inspiration can originate from a number of different sources for me. I’m frequently inspired by my fellow food bloggers, practically daily! Sometimes while reading through cookbooks, or while simply flipping though the pages of one.

Having said that, I find myself often feeling inspired when I decide to try a product for the first time, or when I taste a fruit or vegetable I’ve never had in the past.

American inspired cocktail

Take this Banana Cream Pie Martini recipe for example, you would probably agree it’s pretty close to an all American inspired cocktail. Maybe not quite along the same lines as a Gimlet or a Mint Julep. Perhaps, more closely along the lines of an Apple Pie Martini —which by the way, I intend on making for you soon.

Well, you would be surprised to learn that the inspiration for this cocktail actually originated halfway around the world. Yep…

Banana Cream Pie Martini

Prep time:  5 mins
Total time:  5 mins
Serves: 2 Ingredients

  • 6 ounces vanilla vodka
  • 1 ounce whipped cream vodka
  • 2 ounces creme de banana
  • 1 ounce Amarula Cream liqueur

  1. Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice.
Shake well for 30-40 seconds and serve in martini glasses.

To be honest with you when I decided to pick up this miniature bottle of Amarula Creme, I thought it would taste something like an Irish creme.

I had no idea the the source of this liqueur is actually Marula, a South African fruit. I personally haven’t had the opportunity to taste this very special fruit, so I did a little research and learned it is actually a very special African Fruit, the peel alone is said to have over 27 different flavors! Incredible right? The pulp is often used as a base for jams, jellies, and ciders.

Although you can pleasantly enjoy the hints of caramel, berries, and all spice while sipping Amarula as a cordial. I think you definitely should give it a try via this Banana Cream Pie Martini.
